Hopefully I’m providing adequate coverage of this Unit. It is the location of the Thomas Condon Paleontology Center. Where Painted hill simmered in warm colors, the Sheep Rock Unit is cool tones of greens, grays, blues, and creams. There are splashes of warm tones also but the cooler tones are the most prevalent. There is a lot of basaltic layers covering and protecting the claystone that contains mammal fossils. This area pretty nearly covers from the extinction of the dinosaurs until we showed up; very important place.
